Lorenzo Jones ran on NBC from 1937 to 1955, written by Theodore and Mathilde Ferro. It was unusual among daytime serials in playing for comedy for most of its run, following an amateur inventor whose schemes never quite worked, before turning to straight melodrama in its final years. Public-domain episodes held by the Internet Archive.

Not only is the news coverage professional and excellent at providing a real-time look at what the American people were learning as news was breaking, it is interesting to hear so many different religious leaders offer prayers in support of the invasion, the soldiers and the country. A different time.
