Variety Bandbox ran on the BBC's Light Programme from the mid-1940s, staged before service audiences and later the public at the Golders Green Hippodrome and the Cambridge Theatre. Surviving 1948–1950 transfers preserve the bill-topping comedy spots that made stars of Frankie Howerd and Derek Roy. Public-domain transfers from the Internet Archive.
